Press releases 8 September 2026

Laval is with you, Stéphane.

Laval, September 8, 2026 – Mouvement lavallois wishes to express its full support for its leader and Mayor of Laval, Stéphane Boyer, following the announcement he recently made regarding his health.

Stéphane revealed that, after several months of persistent headaches and vision problems, medical examinations detected the presence of a meningioma, a brain tumour. Although most of these tumors are benign, consultations with specialists will help determine what comes next and the most appropriate next steps.

In order to preserve his energy and spend more time with his family and loved ones, Stéphane will reduce his participation in certain public activities over the coming weeks. He nevertheless wanted to reassure residents that he will continue to fully carry out his duties as Mayor of Laval and Chair of the Executive Committee, supported by a dedicated and committed team.

This news is a reminder that, beyond the responsibilities he carries, Stéphane is first and foremost a deeply caring individual with a strong attachment to Laval. Since entering municipal politics in 2013, he has devoted his energy to advancing our city, guided by the desire to provide current and future generations with a community that reflects their aspirations.
“Some news affects us more deeply than others. Behind the mayor is, above all, a compassionate individual who is deeply devoted to his family and his city. For more than ten years, Stéphane has dedicated himself wholeheartedly to Laval’s development and to the well-being of Laval residents.Every day, he puts all his energy into serving others. Today, it is our turn to show him our support and to give back some of the strength and inspiration he brings to those around him. Stéphane, know that you are not alone. The entire Mouvement lavallois team stands with you, and a whole community is supporting you through this challenge.” – Emmanuelle Provost, President of Mouvement lavallois

Mouvement lavallois assures Stéphane of its unwavering support during this period. We invite our members, as well as all Laval residents, to join this expression of solidarity by sharing their thoughts, words of encouragement, and wishes for a full recovery.
